What could I expect when beginning to study Reiki?

I'm considering contacting a Reiki Master to study with, and I'm just looking for others to share their experiences in studying or practicing such a thing as well. When beginning to better understand Reiki how did it effect you? How quickly did you learn or better feel energy?
